De Havilland Dh88 Comet K-5084
______________________________

This is a repaint of the default FS2004 De Havilland Dh88 Comet. Depicted here the most famous Comet, G-ACSS 'Grosvenor House', after the MacPherson Robertson race when she was tested by the RAF at Martlesham. Whilst there it twice suffered a collapsed undercarriage. After the first collapse it was fitted with enlarged air intakes. After the second crash in September 1936 it was sold as scrap.

Not the end of her story though.....

Installation
____________

Unzip the 'texture._A' folder to your 'DeHavilland Comet' folder within the aircraft folder of FS9's root folder. This typically resides in your 'Program Files' folder of your C: drive, but may differ depending where you installed FS2004.

Then edit the aircraft.cfg adding the following lines just after other very similar entries...

[fltsim.XX]
title=de Havilland Comet K5084
sim=DeHavilland_Comet

texture=_A
kb_checklists=DeHavilland_Comet_check
kb_reference=\DeHavilland_Comet_ref
atc_id=G-ACSS
atc_id_color=0x00ffffff
ui_manufacturer=de Havilland
ui_type="DH-88 'Comet'"
ui_variation="G-ACSS, RAF K5084"
description="G-ACSS Grosvenor House was acquired by the Air Ministry and painted aluminum. It got the RAF serial K-5084. During the tests at the RAF at Martlesham it twice suffered a collapsed undercarriage. After the first collapse it was fitted with enlarged air intakes. After the second crash in September 1936 it was sold as scrap."
atc_heavy=0
atc_id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0

Be sure to edit the first lines 'XX' to the next sequential number.

All being well you should be able to fly her.

Being as you downloaded this from the very fine SimOuthouse, you'll also find me there. Drop a PM or ask a question in the FS2004 forum, I'll do what I can to help.

This repaint was mainly for my own enjoyment, part of a project to cover all schemes of real life Comets, time will tell if I get them all done. Being so, they are not 100% accurate, due to limited research available and (mainly) the texture mapping of the FS2004 model. On the latter point, artistic license has been taken with best judgement. I did my best.

If you are a 'rivet counter', I'm not interested, go paint your own!! If not and have some info or useful feedback, I'm all ears.
